Typhoon Gaemi Devastates Central China: 50 Dead, 15 Missing

At least 50 people have lost their lives, and 15 others remain missing in central China following heavy rains and floods triggered by Typhoon Gaemi since late July. The hardest-hit area is Zixing City in Hunan province, where the typhoon’s impact has been particularly severe.

Local officials report that the disaster has displaced 128,000 people, with 11,869 houses and buildings either damaged or collapsed. The extreme weather has also wreaked havoc on infrastructure, with roads and power systems in hundreds of villages suffering significant damage. Landslides were also reported in several areas, exacerbating the destruction.

Despite the widespread devastation, authorities have managed to restore roads and electricity systems in the affected regions, working tirelessly to bring some normalcy back to the impacted communities. The efforts to locate the missing and assist those displaced are ongoing as the region continues to recover from the typhoon’s aftermath.–News Desk
