WASHINGTON, D.C.—Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Amanda Dory hosted the UAE’s Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Eisa Al Mazrouei, at the Pentagon last week, reinforcing the strong defense partnership between the United States and the United Arab Emirates.
During the meeting, Ms. Dory reiterated the U.S.’s commitment to a robust bilateral defense relationship rooted in shared interests and strategic priorities. The discussions focused on regional security challenges, including efforts to deescalate hostilities, counter Houthi threats to commerce in the Red Sea, and address the destabilizing activities of Iran and its proxies in the region.
Ms. Dory acknowledged the UAE’s pivotal role as a key partner in tackling these challenges and highlighted the potential for expanding bilateral security cooperation. Both sides agreed to enhance joint training and military exercises to better address shared threats and improve interoperability between their forces.
