U.S. Forces Eliminate Senior Al-Qaeda Leader in Syria

TAMPA, Fla.—In a decisive operation earlier today, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces successfully conducted a targeted strike in Syria, killing Abu-’Abd al-Rahman al-Makki, a senior leader of the terrorist group Hurras al-Din. Al-Makki, a key figure within the group’s Shura Council, was responsible for overseeing and coordinating terrorist operations from within Syria.

General Michael Erik Kurilla, Commander of U.S. Central Command, emphasized the significance of the operation, stating, “CENTCOM remains committed to the enduring defeat of terrorists in the CENTCOM area of responsibility who threaten the United States, its allies and partners, and regional stability.”

Hurras al-Din, an organization aligned with Al-Qaeda, operates primarily in Syria and shares Al-Qaeda’s broader objective of carrying out attacks against U.S. and Western interests globally. The elimination of al-Makki represents a significant blow to the group’s leadership and operational capabilities.

This operation underscores CENTCOM’s ongoing commitment to counterterrorism efforts in the region, aiming to dismantle terrorist networks that pose a threat to international security and stability.–News Desk
