ISTANBUL — January 20, 2026

A Ukrainian delegation met national security advisers from France, Germany, and the United Kingdom on Tuesday in Davos, Switzerland, where the World Economic Forum is currently underway.

Focus on Security and Diplomacy

Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov confirmed the meeting in a statement shared on Facebook. He said the discussions focused on aligning positions related to security guarantees and future diplomatic steps.

Umerov attended the meeting alongside Davyd Arakhamia, the parliamentary leader of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Servant of the People party. He also confirmed that Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, is part of the delegation in Davos.

More Meetings Planned

According to Umerov, Ukraine plans to continue talks with international partners in the coming days. These meetings will address security guarantees, economic growth, and the country’s long-term recovery.

He stressed that coordination with allies remains a priority as Ukraine seeks sustained international support.

Recent US Consultations

The Davos talks followed two days of consultations in the United States between Ukraine’s negotiating team and representatives linked to US President Donald Trump. These discussions took place in Miami and included Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Umerov said the sides agreed to continue their work at the technical level during the next phase of talks in Davos. He noted that the US meetings included detailed discussions on Ukraine’s economic development and proposed security guarantees.

Zelenskyy Delays Davos Visit

Earlier, President Zelenskyy announced that he would delay travel to Davos. He cited Ukraine’s ongoing energy crisis following recent Russian strikes as the reason for his decision.
