Gary and University of Notre Dame to Unveil Downtown Revitalization Plan
The City of Gary, in collaboration with the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture’s Housing and Community Regeneration (HCR) Initiative, will host a press conference on Tuesday, May 27, to present the “Vision and Action Plan” for the revitalization of downtown Gary.
The event will be led by Gary Mayor Eddie Melton, with remarks from Christopher Harris, Executive Director of the Gary Redevelopment Commission, and Marianne Cusato, Director of the Housing and Community Regeneration Initiative.
The press conference will begin at 10:00 a.m. Central Time (11:00 a.m. Eastern Time) and will be held at The Gary Room 104, City Hall, 401 Broadway, Gary, Indiana.
Members of the press, Gary residents, and local stakeholders are encouraged to attend. The announcement will highlight the final report developed through a community-focused planning process, including the charrette held in August 2024. This report outlines strategic proposals for physical improvements, economic development, and placemaking efforts in downtown Gary—all guided by public input.
