US Air and Space Chiefs Outline 2026 Defense Priorities

On June 26, 2025, U.S. Air Force and Space Force leaders testified before a Senate subcommittee, emphasizing the 2026 defense budget’s focus on homeland security and countering China in the Indo-Pacific.

Air Force Secretary Troy Meink highlighted nuclear force modernization, including the new LGM-35A Sentinel ICBM and B-21 Raider bomber. Gen. David Allvin detailed progress on the F-47 fighter, upgrades to the F-35, F-15, and B-52, and stressed the need for personnel funding.

Space Force Chief Gen. B. Chance Saltzman outlined expanded space missions, including the new “Golden Dome” program, and praised cost-saving efficiencies in satellite launches and acquisitions.
