US probes 1.4M Honda, Acura engines

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched an investigation into more than 1.4 million Honda and Acura vehicles after reports of engine failures. The probe, which began Friday, focuses on vehicles with 3.5-liter V6 engines that may suffer connecting rod bearing failures, potentially causing complete engine failure. Honda previously recalled nearly 250,000 vehicles in 2023 for the same issue, with 1,450 warranty claims but no injuries or fatalities reported. The investigation follows 173 complaints from drivers of non-recalled cars, including one report of a crash without injuries. Honda has stated it will cooperate with the probe.
