US strike kills suspects Caribbean waters

The United States military has carried out a strike on a vessel in the Caribbean Sea suspected of involvement in narcotics trafficking, leaving two individuals dead, according to US Southern Command.

The operation was conducted on Monday under the direction of General Francis L Donovan. Officials said the mission was executed by Joint Task Force Southern Spear, which launched what was described as a targeted lethal strike against a vessel allegedly linked to designated terrorist groups.

Military authorities stated that intelligence had identified the vessel traveling along established drug trafficking routes and actively participating in illicit operations. Two men, described as suspected narco traffickers, were killed during the strike, while no US personnel were injured.

Details regarding the precise location of the operation, the identities of those killed, and the type of vessel involved were not disclosed.

The strike forms part of a broader US campaign aimed at disrupting narcotics networks operating across regional waters. However, such operations have faced criticism from human rights advocates, who argue that the use of lethal force in these circumstances raises concerns over due process and accountability.
