Yemen’s Houthis Claim Missile Strike on Israeli Ship in Arabian Sea

SANAA, Yemen—On Tuesday, Yemen’s Houthi group announced that it had targeted an Israeli ship in the Arabian Sea using a new ballistic missile. Yahya Saree, the group’s military spokesperson, detailed the operation in a recorded briefing, stating that the MSC SARAH V vessel was hit “with precision and direct impact.”

Saree emphasized the missile’s accuracy, highlighting that it is a newly deployed ballistic missile tested successfully in trial runs. “Notably, it has the capability to strike distant targets effectively,” he added.

Israel has yet to respond to the Houthis’ claims.

The Houthi group has a history of targeting ships that are Israeli-owned, flagged, operated, or bound for Israeli ports in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. These actions are taken in solidarity with Gaza, which has faced a severe Israeli offensive since October 7 last year.

In response to previous attacks, the United States and the United Kingdom have conducted retaliatory airstrikes against Houthi positions in Yemen. The Houthis have since declared that they view all American and British ships as military targets.–News Desk
