Zelenskiy Urges Allies to Act on North Korea

On November 1, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urged Ukraine’s allies to move beyond mere observation and take decisive action against the presence of North Korean troops in Russia, warning that these soldiers could soon confront Ukrainian forces directly. In a video message shared on Telegram, he highlighted the advancements North Korea has made in military capabilities and expressed concern over their growing involvement in the conflict.

Zelenskiy noted that North Korean soldiers are now stationed close to Ukraine’s borders and accused Western allies of failing to provide the necessary long-range weapons to target them. He criticized the inaction of the U.S., Britain, and Germany, stating that their verbal condemnation of the war’s escalation must be matched with concrete actions.

The urgency of his appeal comes as U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed the presence of approximately 10,000 North Korean troops in Russia, with a significant number located in the Kursk region. Meanwhile, North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui expressed support for Russia’s efforts in the Ukraine conflict.
