The United States has allocated over $62 billion in security assistance to Ukraine under the Biden Administration, with approximately $61.4 billion provided since Russia’s full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022. This comprehensive support package spans various areas, including air defense, artillery, ground maneuver systems, unmanned aerial systems, and maritime capabilities, alongside other essential military equipment and resources.
Air Defense
Key air defense contributions include three Patriot batteries, 12 NASAMS, and thousands of Stinger missiles. The U.S. has also provided advanced counter-unmanned aerial systems (c-UAS) and 21 air surveillance radars to bolster Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.
Artillery and Fires
The package includes over 40 HIMARS, 200 155mm howitzers with millions of rounds of artillery, and 72 105mm howitzers. It also offers precision-guided munitions, counter-artillery radars, and mortar systems to strengthen Ukraine’s long-range and precision firepower.
Ground Maneuver Systems
Support extends to 31 Abrams tanks, 45 T-72B tanks, over 300 Bradley vehicles, and more than 900 armored personnel carriers. Tactical vehicles for towing, hauling, and recovery, along with mine-resistant vehicles, armored medical treatment vehicles, and bridging systems, are also included.
Aircraft and Unmanned Systems
Ukraine has received helicopters, such as 20 Mi-17s, and various unmanned aerial systems (UAS) like Switchblade, Phoenix Ghost, and Scan Eagle drones. These assets enhance reconnaissance and strike capabilities.
Anti-Armor and Small Arms
The U.S. has provided over 10,000 Javelin anti-armor systems, 120,000 additional anti-armor munitions, TOW missiles, grenade launchers, and millions of rounds of small arms ammunition.
Maritime Support
Ukraine’s maritime defense is bolstered with Harpoon coastal defense systems, over 100 patrol boats, and port security equipment to counter naval threats.
Additional Support
Additional resources include demolition equipment, body armor, night vision devices, chemical and biological protective gear, medical supplies, and cold-weather gear. The package also funds training, maintenance, and sustainment.
Allied Efforts
The U.S. continues to coordinate with allies and partners to secure additional capabilities for Ukraine, enabling its defense against ongoing aggression and enhancing its resilience.
