Pakistan Rejects Afghanistan’s Request to Postpone Deportations
Pakistan has turned down Afghanistan’s request to delay the deportation of undocumented Afghan nationals, reaffirming its decision to proceed with repatriations as planned. Islamabad stated that its policy remains unchanged, emphasizing the need to regulate immigration and ensure national security.
Afghan officials had urged Pakistan to extend the deadline, citing humanitarian concerns and the difficulties faced by returnees. However, Pakistani authorities maintained that the process is necessary for border management and will continue without exceptions.
The decision has sparked concern among human rights organizations, which warn of potential hardships for Afghan refugees. Despite international appeals, Pakistan insists that it has given ample time for voluntary repatriation and will now implement its deportation policy strictly.
