Diplomatic momentum surrounding renewed Iran–US negotiations has intensified as Abbas Araghchi returned to Islamabad following a short visit to Oman, according to official sources.
Araghchi is expected to engage in high-level discussions with Pakistani leadership, including Ishaq Dar, as Pakistan continues its diplomatic efforts to mediate between Iran and the United States.
Sources indicate that the Iranian foreign minister may travel onward to Russia from Islamabad, signaling broader regional coordination in efforts to revive stalled negotiations.
This marks Araghchi’s second visit to the Pakistani capital within 48 hours. During his earlier trip, he held key meetings with Shehbaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar, and Army Chief Asim Munir. The discussions focused on exploring pathways to restart critical diplomatic talks between Tehran and Washington.
The initial round of negotiations took place in Islamabad two weeks earlier but failed to yield a breakthrough agreement to resolve ongoing tensions. These talks followed a ceasefire arrangement brokered by Pakistan on April 8, which was later extended by Donald Trump.
Pakistan’s active mediation role underscores its growing influence in regional diplomacy, as efforts continue to stabilize relations and prevent further escalation.
