Azerbaijan Protests Russia Over Drone Strike

SOCAR Attack Sparks Diplomatic Row

BAKU: Azerbaijan has summoned Russia’s ambassador to lodge a formal protest following a drone strike that damaged a SOCAR fuel station in Ukraine’s Mykolaiv region.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said it delivered a diplomatic note condemning the attack, arguing that repeated strikes on SOCAR facilities despite previous warnings suggest the incidents may have been deliberate. Officials also raised concerns over earlier attacks that damaged Azerbaijan’s embassy in Kyiv and its honorary consulate in Kharkiv.

Baku urged Russia to conduct a comprehensive investigation, provide a clear explanation for the incidents, and fulfill its international obligations to protect civilian infrastructure and diplomatic missions under the Vienna Conventions.

According to Azerbaijani officials, the latest strike damaged the station’s administrative building, but no employees were injured because staff had taken shelter during the air raid.
