Erdogan Meets Liberian President Boakai for Bilateral Talks in Istanbul
ISTANBUL, July 10, 2026 — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to Istanbul on Friday for high-level bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries.
The meeting took place at the historic Vahdettin Pavilion, where the two leaders exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and explored opportunities to deepen cooperation across a range of sectors.
Senior Turkish officials also attended the talks, including Communications Director Burhanettin Duran and Chief Foreign Policy and Security Adviser Akif Çağatay Kılıç, reflecting the importance Ankara attaches to its diplomatic engagement with Liberia.
Although officials did not immediately release details of the discussions, the visit underscores Türkiye’s continued efforts to expand political, economic, and strategic partnerships with African nations as part of its broader foreign policy agenda.
