Cairo Hosts New Round of Gaza Ceasefire Negotiations

Israeli, Egyptian Officials Hold Gaza Ceasefire Talks

Israeli and Egyptian Officials Meet in Cairo to Discuss Next Stage of Gaza Ceasefire

CAIRO, July 10, 2026 — Senior Israeli and Egyptian military officials have held discussions in Cairo on advancing the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, according to Israel’s public broadcaster, as regional mediation efforts continue.

The reported meetings took place over two days and coincided with a separate visit by a Hamas delegation led by Khalil al-Hayya, which met with mediators in the Egyptian capital to discuss strengthening the ceasefire and the future implementation of the agreement.

The Israeli broadcaster did not identify the officials who participated in the talks or disclose whether any concrete progress was achieved. Egyptian authorities have not publicly commented on the reported meetings.

The discussions come amid renewed diplomatic efforts involving Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye to move negotiations forward. According to the report, one of the main points of contention remains the issue of disarmament, with Israeli officials maintaining that it should be addressed as part of the next phase of the agreement.

The ceasefire framework, announced in late September 2025, included an initial suspension of hostilities, a partial Israeli military withdrawal, the release of Israeli captives, and increased humanitarian aid deliveries into Gaza. While the first phase led to the exchange of captives, disagreements over humanitarian commitments and security arrangements have complicated progress toward the second phase.

The proposed next stage envisions a broader Israeli military withdrawal, expanded reconstruction efforts in Gaza, and further negotiations on long-term security arrangements. Mediators continue to work toward preserving the ceasefire and reaching a comprehensive agreement despite ongoing political and military tensions.
