CBP Seizes Over $653K in Cocaine and Heroin at Del Rio Port of Entry

DEL RIO, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry intercepted a significant shipment of illegal drugs, valued at more than $653,000. The seized narcotics included cocaine, brown heroin, and black-tar heroin.

Port Director Liliana Flores emphasized the seriousness of the drug threat faced by CBP officers daily, stating that this seizure highlights the effectiveness of the security measures in place at the port.

The incident occurred on August 12 when a 24-year-old U.S. citizen driving a Ford pickup, which was towing another vehicle on a trailer, was directed to a secondary inspection at the Del Rio International Bridge. During the inspection, CBP officers, using advanced scanning technology and canine units, discovered several packages concealed within the towed vehicle. These packages contained nearly 21 pounds of cocaine, eight pounds of brown heroin, and 13.5 pounds of black-tar heroin.

The drugs, with a combined estimated street value of $653,892, were confiscated by CBP. The driver was arrested by special agents from Homeland Security Investigations, who have initiated a criminal investigation into the case.–News Desk
