Israel Says Strike in Gaza Kills Senior Hamas Figure
Israel said on Saturday that it carried out a targeted strike in Gaza that killed a senior Hamas commander.
In an official statement, the Israeli military said its forces struck a vehicle in Gaza City and killed what it described as a “key Hamas terrorist.”
Casualties Reported
Meanwhile, the Hamas-run Civil Defence provided a different account of the incident. Spokesman Mahmoud Basal told the BBC that the strike killed four people.
He added that the explosion also injured several passers-by who were near the vehicle at the time of the attack.
Target Under Review
According to local sources, the strike may have targeted Raed Saad, a senior commander in Hamas’s armed wing, the Qassam Brigades.
However, Hamas has not officially confirmed the identity of the individual targeted in the strike.
