As the Department of Defense continues to enhance alliances and partnerships in the space domain, the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy extends its profound appreciation to Dr. Vipin Narang for his outstanding service as the Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy.
Dr. Narang, who served from March 2022 to August 2024, played a crucial role in advancing the Department’s strategic capabilities for integrated deterrence, covering areas such as space, nuclear weapons, missile defense, and countering weapons of mass destruction. Initially serving as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy, Dr. Narang later took on the role of Acting Assistant Secretary, where he demonstrated exemplary leadership and skill.
The Department expresses its gratitude for Dr. Narang’s exceptional public service and his significant contributions, particularly in the fields of space, nuclear policy, and countering weapons of mass destruction. His work on extended deterrence, both domestically and internationally, has left a lasting impact. As Dr. Narang departs the Department to return to academia, the DoD wishes him continued success in his future endeavors.
The Department also acknowledges John Hill, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space and Missile Defense, who will assume the role of Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy starting August 10.–News Desk
