Egyptian, Indonesian Presidents Hold Talks on Gaza, Syria, Lebanon

In Cairo on Wednesday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held important talks addressing the escalating crises in Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon. Their discussions focused on urgent steps to implement a ceasefire in Gaza, secure the release of hostages, and ensure the free flow of humanitarian aid to the region.

Both leaders reaffirmed their support for Palestinian rights, emphasizing the need for an independent Palestinian state based on international resolutions. President al-Sisi also expressed Egypt’s openness to boosting economic ties with Indonesia, particularly in sectors like trade, IT, food security, and renewable energy.

Beyond the immediate concerns of Gaza, the two presidents called for the restoration of peace and sovereignty in Syria and Lebanon, stressing the importance of respecting these countries’ territorial integrity. These talks come amid continued global efforts for peace in the region, including intensified mediation between Egypt and Qatar to facilitate a ceasefire in Gaza.

The leaders also addressed the broader instability in the Middle East, with a particular focus on the ongoing impact of Syria’s conflict and the need for international accountability, as the world continues to respond to the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
