Ex-Japan and Galatasaray star Junichi Inamoto retires at 45

Junichi Inamoto, former Japan and Galatasaray midfielder, has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 45. In a heartfelt Instagram post, he expressed his satisfaction with his career and gratitude to those who supported him throughout, including clubs, coaches, teammates, staff, sponsors, and fans.

Inamoto began his career at just 17 years old, debuting in the J-League in 1997 as its youngest player at the time. He made history as the first Japanese player to play in the English Premier League, with stints at several European clubs, including Galatasaray, Arsenal, Fulham, West Bromwich, Cardiff City, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Rennes. Inamoto also earned 82 caps for Japan, scoring five goals.
