FO: US Sanctions on Pakistani Firms Threaten Regional, Global Peace

The Foreign Office of Pakistan condemned the recent U.S. sanctions on four Pakistani firms, calling them “biased” and warning that they could destabilize both regional and global peace. These sanctions, announced by the U.S. on Thursday, target entities allegedly linked to Pakistan’s ballistic missile program. The affected firms include the National Development Complex in Islamabad and three Karachi-based companies: Affiliates International, Akhtar and Sons, and Rockside Enterprise.

The Foreign Office expressed disappointment, accusing the U.S. of applying double standards that undermine the credibility of non-proliferation efforts. The statement emphasized that Pakistan’s strategic capabilities are solely for national defense and regional stability, rejecting the U.S.’s actions as a threat to peace. It also criticized the sanctions as based on “suspicions” rather than solid evidence, pointing to previous similar listings that lacked proof.

The statement further highlighted the unfairness of U.S. policies, noting that while they claim to uphold non-proliferation standards, they have often waived restrictions on military technology exports to other countries. Pakistan reiterated that its strategic programs are a “sacred trust” entrusted by its people, which cannot be compromised under any circumstances.

This latest round of sanctions follows a series of similar moves by the U.S., which has also imposed restrictions on Chinese and UAE-based entities involved in missile and drone development. While the U.S. has reaffirmed its partnership with Pakistan, it made it clear that such disagreements would not prevent them from acting in defense of their own interests.
