Herzog Mourns Return of Murdered Hostages

President Honors Victims Recovered from Gaza

President Herzog’s Statement on the Return of Hostage Victims

President Isaac Herzog expressed sorrow and resolve following the recovery of two Israeli-American citizens, Judith Weinstein Haggai and her husband Gad Haggai, whose bodies were retrieved from Gaza.

“The return of Judith and Gad, cruelly murdered and taken from their home, marks a moment of deep sorrow but also provides closure for their loved ones,” Herzog stated. “They were abducted from their peaceful community, where they built a life and raised a family. Now, they will be laid to rest with dignity in the land they loved.”

President Herzog extended his condolences to the Haggai family and the Nir Oz community, and praised the efforts of Israel’s military and intelligence forces.

“We remain committed to rescuing all hostages—those who are still alive and those who have fallen—so that every one of them can be brought home, whether for healing or for burial with honor,” he concluded.
