UN: Nearly 800 Gazans Killed While Seeking Food Aid Since Late May

The United Nations Human Rights Office (OHCHR) has reported that at least 798 people have lost their lives in Gaza since late May while trying to access food assistance.

Speaking to reporters in Geneva, OHCHR spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani stated that as of July 7, a total of 798 deaths had been recorded. Of these, 615 occurred near sites run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, while another 183 were believed to have been killed along aid convoy routes, according to Reuters.

In a separate incident on Friday, an Israeli airstrike struck a school in northern Gaza that was sheltering displaced families. According to local medical sources, at least eight Palestinians were killed in the attack.

Al Jazeera Arabic reported that the school was located in a civilian area where many people had taken refuge from ongoing military activity. Citing a source from Al-Shifa Hospital, the report also said that several individuals were injured in the strike.
