ICC visits National Bank Stadium

An ICC delegation, led by Event Manager Aun Zaidi, recently visited Karachi’s National Bank Stadium to inspect preparations for the highly anticipated 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan. The team, which included experts from broadcasting, marketing, and other departments, focused on evaluating the progress of the stadium’s ongoing construction and upgrades.

Accompanied by key officials like Arshad Khan, General Manager of National Stadium, and Usman Wahla, Director of International Cricket, the delegation spent around 30 minutes touring the new building and other areas of the stadium. The site is undergoing significant renovations to ensure it meets the high standards required for hosting such a prestigious tournament.

During the visit, the team received a comprehensive briefing on the improvements being made, including infrastructure enhancements aimed at providing world-class facilities for players and spectators alike. The inspection in Karachi marked just the beginning of the delegation’s tour, as they are set to continue their evaluation in Lahore.

The 2025 ICC Men’s Champions Trophy will be a landmark event, with matches scheduled to take place in Pakistan and neutral venues. This arrangement follows the ICC’s decision to host India-Pakistan matches at neutral locations during the 2024-2027 cycle for logistical and security reasons. This “fusion formula” will extend to other major ICC tournaments, ensuring a smooth and secure experience for both players and fans, especially when India and Pakistan meet on the world stage.
