Iran US Proposal Talks Advance Ceasefire Debate Deepens

Iran has confirmed it is assessing a formal response from the United States to its proposed framework aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, signaling continued diplomatic engagement despite persistent tensions.

According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, the American reply was delivered through Pakistani intermediaries, highlighting Islamabad’s active role in facilitating communication between the two sides. The statement was reported by Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting.

Baghaei emphasized that Iran’s proposal is strictly focused on resolving the conflict and does not involve any nuclear-related discussions. He clarified that, at this stage, no negotiations concerning nuclear issues are taking place.

Earlier reports indicated that Tehran had submitted a detailed 14-point response addressing a nine-point US proposal. The Iranian plan prioritizes a swift resolution, advocating a 30-day framework to end hostilities rather than extending temporary ceasefires.

Key elements of the proposal reportedly include guarantees against further military action, withdrawal of US forces from surrounding regions, lifting of naval blockades and economic sanctions, release of frozen Iranian assets, and compensation for damages. It also calls for a comprehensive halt to hostilities across multiple fronts, including Lebanon.

Additionally, the framework addresses the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical energy corridor that has remained restricted since the conflict began.

Pakistan has played a central diplomatic role, having previously brokered a ceasefire and hosted key talks aimed at reducing tensions. Officials in Islamabad have reiterated their commitment to continuing mediation efforts until a lasting resolution is achieved.

The ongoing review of proposals reflects cautious progress toward de-escalation, as both sides weigh options for a potential end to the conflict.
