Tehran Threatens Oil Shutdown Response US Military Action

Trump Cancels Iran Strikes Escalation Raises Energy Crisis Fears

Iran’s military has warned it could expand the scope of conflict with the United States beyond the Middle East and disrupt global oil and gas flows if Washington continues military operations against the country. The warning came shortly before former U.S. President Donald Trump announced the cancellation of planned airstrikes on Iran scheduled for Thursday evening.

Major General Ali Abdollahi, head of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, stated in remarks reported by Fars News Agency that any further American attacks would trigger a significantly stronger Iranian response. He added that the consequences of escalation could extend beyond the region, warning of a wider global impact.

Referring to earlier threats involving Iran’s key oil export hub at Kharg Island, Abdollahi said energy exports could become universally inaccessible if conflict intensifies, declaring that “either oil and gas exports will be available to everyone or impossible for everyone.”

His remarks followed Trump’s announcement on Truth Social that he had called off scheduled strikes and bombings after what he described as high-level discussions involving Iranian leadership.

Earlier reports indicated that U.S. forces had carried out a second consecutive day of strikes on Iranian targets, following the reported downing of an Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz.

In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it had struck multiple U.S. military installations across the region, including bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.

The ongoing escalation has significantly increased regional tensions, particularly after U.S. strikes on Iranian territory and Tehran’s reported decision to close the Strait of Hormuz, raising concerns over global energy security.
