Israel Sends Delegation to Gaza Talks Despite Hamas Demands
Jerusalem, July 7, 2025 — Israel is sending negotiators to Cairo for ceasefire talks with Hamas, despite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calling the group’s latest demands “unacceptable.”
The decision comes as international pressure mounts to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Mediated by Egypt and Qatar, the proposed deal aims to secure the release of Israeli hostages and allow humanitarian aid into the war-torn enclave.
Hamas is demanding a permanent ceasefire and full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza—conditions Israel has so far rejected. Netanyahu said Israel remains committed to securing the return of hostages and ending the violence but emphasized that some of Hamas’ terms go beyond reason.
“We are continuing the talks because the lives of our people are at stake,” Netanyahu stated.
The Israeli delegation’s participation signals a willingness to explore diplomatic options while maintaining a firm stance on security concerns.
Although a resolution appears distant, officials hope that continued dialogue could pave the way toward de-escalation and prevent further civilian suffering on both sides. Talks are expected to resume this week in Cairo.
