Jerusalem, Wednesday, November 5, 2025 — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke late Tuesday night with the family of Staff Sgt. Itay Chen, an Armored Corps soldier who fell in battle on October 7, 2023. His body was recently recovered and returned to Israel after captivity by Hamas.

During the call, the Prime Minister extended his condolences on behalf of himself, his wife, and the entire nation of Israel. He expressed deep sympathy for the Chen family and said he stands with them in their grief.

Family Expresses Appreciation

Moreover, Itay’s parents, Ruby and Hagit Chen, thanked the IDF soldiers, security forces, and the Prime Minister for ensuring their son’s return for a Jewish burial. They expressed gratitude for the efforts of everyone involved. Additionally, they urged Mr. Netanyahu to continue working toward the return of all remaining hostages held by Hamas.
