Turkish Military Chief Attends NATO Meeting on Regional Security

ANKARA — Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, chief of the general staff of Türkiye, joined a video teleconference meeting of the NATO Military Committee on Friday to discuss regional defense and security challenges.

NATO military leaders review security issues

The meeting was chaired by Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, while Alexus Grynkewich, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, also participated. Chiefs of defense from NATO member states attended the session to review current security developments.

According to information shared on NSosyal, the leaders discussed several regional defense concerns and examined ongoing security challenges affecting NATO allies.

NATO council reviews regional tensions

Separately, the North Atlantic Council held a meeting in ambassadorial format. Mark Rutte, secretary general of NATO, chaired the session.

During the meeting, ambassadors reviewed the current security environment as tensions continue to rise due to ongoing attacks by Iran across the Middle East and surrounding regions.

NATO allies express support for Türkiye

NATO members strongly condemned the targeting of Türkiye earlier in the week and expressed full solidarity with Ankara.

According to Turkish National Defense Ministry, a ballistic munition launched from Iran toward Turkish airspace was intercepted and destroyed by NATO air and missile defense systems in the Eastern Mediterranean.
