Netanyahu Pushes 2025 Budget Approval

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, addressing the government meeting on October 31, 2024, underscored the crucial interdependence between Israel’s economy and its security amid ongoing conflict. He highlighted the importance of equipping the military with necessary resources, stating that without a stable economy, sustainable defense would be impossible. He also stressed that if Israel’s security is compromised, the economy would similarly suffer, as attacks could impact cities, industries, and civilians alike.

Netanyahu praised the resilience of Israel’s economy, even in the face of seven-front attacks, attributing its strength to the country’s commitment to a free-market system, a strong sense of initiative, and citizen solidarity. Despite the significant costs of war, he noted that Israel’s economic foundation has endured, thanks to the efforts of Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and others.

As the government moves to finalize the 2025 budget, Netanyahu acknowledged the challenge of balancing economic constraints. He emphasized that maintaining robust security capabilities requires financial sacrifices in other areas. Expressing optimism, he anticipated that discussions would soon yield favorable news for Israel, supporting both its defense needs and economic stability.
