Poland to Ban Cellphones for Students Under 16
New School Policy to Begin in September
Poland will prohibit students under 16 from using cellphones in schools, Education Minister Barbara Nowacka announced on Wednesday. The ban will take effect on September 1, 2026, following the completion of a major legislative reform.
Protecting Students from Internet Dependence
Minister Nowacka explained that mobile phone use in schools “cannot be the norm” due to children’s increasing reliance on the internet. She emphasized that the policy aims to support a healthier learning environment and reduce digital distractions during school hours.

Poland’s decision aligns with similar initiatives worldwide. Several countries have introduced restrictions on cellphone use in classrooms and limited social media access for minors to encourage better focus and safety in educational settings.
