President Herzog Urges National Unity at Yom HaShoah Ceremony

Israeli President Warns Against Internal Divisions During Holocaust Remembrance Address

In a solemn and powerful address at the Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) ceremony at Yad Vashem, President Isaac Herzog urged the people of Israel to come together in unity and mutual respect, warning that internal divisions threaten the nation’s strength and legacy.

President Herzog highlighted the growing polarization within society, stating that disunity could unravel the very fabric of the nation. “Let us unite together, the entire House of Israel,” he said, emphasizing that this period—between Holocaust Remembrance Day and Independence Day—must be one of reflection, solidarity, and collective strength.

Drawing on conversations with Holocaust survivors, Herzog expressed their deep concern over the current social climate. He stressed that the memory of the six million lives lost during the Holocaust must inspire unity, not division. “History will not forgive those who choose to dismantle us from within,” he warned, referencing the dangers of incitement and online hostility.

The President’s address was not only a tribute to the victims of the Holocaust but also a call to action for every Israeli citizen to preserve the values of democracy, resilience, and shared purpose. He concluded with a powerful message of hope and determination: “Just as we overcame before, so shall we overcome again.”

The ceremony, held at the nation’s central Holocaust memorial, was attended by leaders, survivors, and citizens committed to honoring the past while shaping a more united future.
