Proposed Arch Could Redefine US Landmarks

Trump Monument Plan Near Arlington Advances

US Unveils Design for Trump’s Proposed Triumphal Arch

ISTANBUL — April 11, 2026:
The US Interior Department has revealed official design images for a large triumphal arch proposed by President Donald Trump. The planned monument would stand near Arlington National Cemetery, across the Potomac River from Washington, DC.

Structure Set to Surpass Major Landmarks

According to the proposal, the arch would reach about 250 feet (76 meters) in height. This makes it more than twice as tall as the nearby Lincoln Memorial, which stands at 99 feet.

In addition, the design would make the structure the tallest triumphal arch in the world. It would exceed the height of the monument at Plaza de la República by roughly 30 feet.

Planned Location and Design Features

The project places the arch at a traffic circle on the Virginia side of the Potomac River. This location lies between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery, although the land officially falls within Washington, DC.

Design plans highlight several symbolic elements. The arch would display inscriptions such as “One Nation Under God” and “Liberty and Justice for All.” At the top, a gold-colored Lady Liberty statue would stand between two eagles. Meanwhile, four lion statues would guard the base.

Project Linked to National Milestone

In recent months, Trump has actively promoted the project by sharing design concepts. He described the monument as a personal legacy piece and stated that it would celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Moreover, the design draws inspiration from the famous Arc de Triomphe, reflecting a classical architectural style.

Proposal Submitted for Approval

On Friday, Trump announced on his social platform that his administration had officially submitted the plans to the Commission of Fine Arts. He described the proposed structure as the “greatest and most beautiful triumphal arch” in the world.
