Sanchez Urges Unified European Action

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has called on Europe to take strong and coordinated action to prevent Lebanon from becoming “a new Gaza,” warning against continued violations of international humanitarian law.

Speaking in a televised address on Friday, he said Europe must respond consistently to such crises and maintain a unified position.

Call for Consistent Global Standards

Sánchez urged the European Union to apply the same principles across all global conflicts. He argued that consistent standards are necessary if Europe expects global support for its stance on Ukraine and other international issues.

He said Europe’s credibility depends on applying international law equally in all regions.

Push to Review EU–Israel Agreement

The Spanish leader also renewed his call for suspending the European Union’s association agreement with Israel, a treaty established in 1995 that governs trade and political cooperation.

He said the agreement should be reviewed in light of ongoing developments in the region.

Social Media Remarks and Lebanon Ceasefire Appeal

In a post on X, Sánchez also urged that Lebanon be fully included in the ceasefire framework linked to recent Iran-related negotiations.

He stressed the need for accountability, stating that “there must be no impunity for these criminal acts.
