Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has strongly condemned the violent actions of security forces against its protesters, accusing them of using excessive force during recent demonstrations in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. PTI claims that security personnel engaged in brutal tactics to suppress peaceful protests, including the use of tear gas, rubber bullets, and physical assaults on protesters. The party described these actions as an attempt to stifle opposition and intimidate those exercising their right to protest.
The protests, led by PTI in response to the ongoing imprisonment of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, were initially peaceful. However, clashes erupted when police began forcibly dispersing the crowds, with numerous injuries reported on both sides. PTI leaders argue that security forces crossed a line, leading to unnecessary violence and the arbitrary arrest of protesters.
In response, PTI has called for an independent investigation into the actions of the police, demanding accountability for the injuries and damages caused during the crackdown. Party leaders also urged human rights organizations to take notice of the situation, highlighting what they believe to be a growing trend of state-sanctioned repression against political opposition.
The government, however, maintains that the actions taken were necessary to maintain law and order. Authorities have defended the use of force, claiming that it was required to prevent unrest and violence from escalating further.
As tensions rise between PTI and the government, both sides continue to accuse each other of escalating the crisis. With the political situation increasingly volatile, PTI has vowed to continue its protests and pressure the government for the release of Imran Khan, further intensifying the standoff in Pakistan’s political landscape.
