Gaza: 22 Palestinians Killed in Israeli Strikes Despite Ceasefire

Deadly Airstrikes Hit Homes and Civilian Areas

Israeli forces killed at least 22 Palestinians on Saturday during airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, despite a ceasefire that began on October 10. The attacks struck homes and a vehicle in several locations, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

Women and Children Among Victims

Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal said women, children, and the elderly were among the dead. Several buildings were completely destroyed. Near Abbas Junction in western Gaza City, an Israeli drone strike targeted a civilian vehicle, killing five people and wounding others.

In western Deir al-Balah, Israeli strikes hit a home near the Bilal bin Rabah Mosque, killing two Palestinians. In the Nuseirat refugee camp, three people died after a strike near Al-Awda Hospital, while seven others were killed when a home in Camp 2 was hit. Bassal did not provide details on the remaining fatalities.

Continued Violence Across Gaza

Israeli forces also shot and injured three Palestinians near al-Bureij camp in central Gaza and in Jabalia in the north. The army said it killed a gunman who crossed the yellow line.

Early Saturday, airstrikes targeted areas east of al-Bureij and Deir al-Balah, eastern Rafah, Khan Younis, and neighborhoods in eastern Gaza City, including Tuffah and Shujaiya. Soldiers also detonated booby-trapped vehicles and fired artillery, making these areas highly dangerous for civilians.

Ceasefire Challenges and Casualties Since October

The ceasefire limits Israeli operations to specific zones, but the army continues to occupy more than 50% of Gaza. Recent attacks east of the yellow line have destroyed large areas and put civilians at risk.

Since October 2023, Israeli operations have killed nearly 70,000 Palestinians in Gaza, mostly women and children. More than 170,800 people have been injured, and much of the enclave has been reduced to rubble.
