Recovery Operation Continues at Colony Glacier for 1952 Crash Victims

In the harsh and remote terrains of Colony Glacier, Alaska, Air Force Lt. Col. Crystal A. Glaster, deputy commander of Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations, alongside Capt. Travis Lockwood, deputy ground forces commander for Operation Colony Glacier, are leading a meticulous effort to recover the remains of service members. The operation focuses on the site where a C-124 Globemaster II tragically crashed in November 1952, carrying 52 military personnel.

The team is dedicated to sifting through decades-old debris, using advanced search techniques and technologies to locate and retrieve remains and wreckage. This ongoing mission not only honors the fallen service members by aiming to return them to their families but also serves as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by military personnel. Operation Colony Glacier underscores the commitment of the U.S. military to leave no soldier behind, regardless of the passage of time.–News Desk
