Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza as “genocide” against Palestinians during a summit with Muslim and Arab leaders. He reiterated Saudi Arabia’s firm rejection of Israel’s actions and called for international intervention to prevent further violence and protect Iran’s sovereignty. The prince also emphasized that Saudi Arabia would not recognize Israel unless a Palestinian state is established.
The summit also discussed the possibility of freezing Israel’s membership in the United Nations General Assembly, with Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit noting that such a decision could be made by a majority vote in the General Assembly. The summit’s closing statement urged a global ban on arms exports to Israel and called for the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants for Israeli officials in response to the ongoing violence in Gaza, which has resulted in significant casualties and displacement.
