US President Donald Trump has reiterated that Washington will obtain Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium without providing any financial compensation to Tehran, escalating rhetoric around ongoing nuclear negotiations.
In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the United States would secure what he referred to as Iran’s nuclear “dust,” adding that no monetary exchange would take place under any agreement. He linked his remarks to previous US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities carried out in June 2025 using B2 bombers.
His comments followed a report by Axios suggesting that Trump was considering the possibility of unfreezing approximately 20 billion dollars in Iranian assets as part of a potential deal involving the transfer of uranium stockpiles.
The White House responded by stressing that only official statements from the president or administration should be considered credible, while avoiding confirmation of the reported proposal. Officials also noted that discussions with Iran remain ongoing but will not be conducted through media channels.
Separately, Trump confirmed in a conversation with NewsNation that Iran had agreed to halt uranium enrichment, stating that Tehran had accepted all conditions being discussed. However, no formal agreement has been publicly released.
He also indicated that further direct negotiations between the United States and Iran could take place over the weekend following earlier talks that failed to produce a comprehensive settlement. A temporary ceasefire brokered through regional mediation is expected to expire in the coming days, while reports suggest the next round of discussions may be held in Islamabad.
