In a remarkable display of international collaboration, Türkiye’s state-run aid agency, TIKA, has inaugurated a cutting-edge greenhouse at Pakistan’s Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam. Renowned as the country’s oldest and most prestigious agricultural institution, the university now houses a facility powered by renewable solar energy, equipped with the latest agricultural technologies. This greenhouse is designed not only to enhance academic research but also to support public institutions and farmers across Pakistan.
Fateh Marri, Vice-Chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University, expressed his appreciation for TIKA’s ongoing agricultural initiatives throughout Pakistan, emphasizing the value of Türkiye’s expertise in the sector. He thanked TIKA and Türkiye for their significant role in strengthening Pakistan’s food security.
Dursdun Ali Yasacan, head of TIKA’s Department of East and South Asia Pacific and Latin America, highlighted the agency’s impactful agricultural projects in Pakistan, which mirror similar initiatives worldwide. Previous collaborations include distributing wheat seeds to flood-stricken farmers in 2022 and supplying home gardening kits to women in Karachi’s Lyari neighborhood in 2023.
In another stride towards educational cooperation, TIKA has also launched a state-of-the-art media studio at the century-old NED University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi. The Pak-Türkiye Media Center, a joint venture with NED University, will offer diploma programs in media-related fields and support online remote education. Turkish Consul General Cemal Sangu celebrated the strong historical ties between Türkiye and Pakistan, emphasizing the studio’s potential to further deepen this relationship. Vice-Chancellor Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi of NED University expressed gratitude for the modern studio’s establishment, marking another milestone in this growing partnership.
