Türkiye Reaffirms Strong Role in Global Stability at G20 Summit
Türkiye demonstrated its strong commitment to regional peace and international economic stability during the G20 summit in South Africa, Turkish Communications Director Burhanettin Duran said on Sunday.
Speaking on Türkiye’s social media platform NSosyal, Duran said President Recep Tayyip Erdogan clearly presented Ankara’s positions throughout summit sessions, press conferences, and multiple bilateral meetings. Erdogan discussed cooperation in several areas, including defense, trade, energy, technology, and aviation.
Focus on Gaza Crisis and Global Economy
Duran emphasized Türkiye’s growing diplomatic influence, noting that Erdogan repeatedly highlighted the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and called for stronger global action.
He also said Türkiye continued to promote a constructive approach to the Ukraine–Russia war while urging the creation of a more inclusive global economic system.
Türkiye Prepares for COP31 Presidency
Looking ahead, Duran drew attention to Türkiye’s upcoming presidency and hosting of the COP31 climate conference next November. He described Türkiye as a leading actor in climate action and pointed to the country’s 2053 Net Zero Emissions Target as a key part of its long-term development model.
According to Duran, this vision places green transformation at the center of energy, transportation, urban planning, and production policies. He said this approach gives Türkiye a strong leadership position for the COP31 process.
Zero Waste Initiative Highlighted
Duran also praised the Zero Waste Initiative, launched under the leadership of First Lady Emine Erdogan, calling it a global environmental success story. The project focuses on reducing waste, using natural resources efficiently, and promoting a lifestyle based on respect for nature.
He added that COP31 in Türkiye will become a historic moment where “the heart of climate diplomacy beats in Anatolia” and global solutions gain momentum.
