US Ukraine move closer to peace plan progress

Geneva talks show progress in Ukraine peace efforts

US and Ukraine Advance Updated Peace Framework

US and Ukrainian negotiators have prepared an updated and more detailed peace framework and plan to continue refining it in the coming days, both governments confirmed on Sunday.

Geneva Talks End on a Productive Note

In a joint statement, the two countries said the latest round of negotiations in Geneva on the US-backed peace proposal had been “highly productive.” Officials now consider this phase of the talks complete.

Washington Highlights Significant Progress

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that negotiators made a “tremendous amount of progress” in improving the plan. However, he noted that the teams still need to settle several important points before presenting a final version to Russia.

Mixed International Response to Earlier Draft

An earlier draft of the peace plan leaked last week. Russia reacted cautiously but positively, while leaders in Kyiv and across Europe raised concerns, arguing the proposal seemed too favorable to Moscow’s interests.
