In a powerful address at a prominent academy in Kyiv, a senior U.S. official reaffirmed unwavering support for Ukraine’s fight against Russia’s invasion, stressing that Ukraine’s future holds global significance.
Expressing solidarity with Ukraine’s struggle, the official drew parallels with President Kennedy’s 1963 speech in Berlin, challenging critics of Ukraine’s war of self-defense: “Let them come to Kyiv,” he said, addressing those who underestimate the stakes.
The speech emphasized the moral and strategic necessity of standing with Ukraine, denouncing Russian aggression and highlighting the immense sacrifices Ukrainians have made since Russia’s invasion on February 24, 2022. The official praised the resilience of Ukraine’s citizens, soldiers, and leaders, stating, “Ukraine’s spirit has inspired the world,” while underscoring the strategic importance of Ukraine to global security.
Outlining the road ahead, the official reiterated the United States’ continued military and diplomatic support, pointing to the $58 billion in U.S. security assistance provided to Ukraine since the war began, as well as the efforts of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group. He emphasized the unity of the international coalition backing Ukraine, saying, “The United States will get Ukraine what it needs to fight for its survival and security.”
The speech concluded with a rallying cry, “Ukraine does not belong to Putin. Ukraine belongs to the Ukrainian people. And Moscow will never prevail in Ukraine.”
As the war continues, the official’s words underscored Ukraine’s critical role in defending global principles of sovereignty and freedom, and the commitment of the United States and its allies to Ukraine’s cause.–News Desk
