Zelenskyy Says Ukraine Delegation to Brief on Sensitive Abu Dhabi Talks
ISTANBUL —
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Ukrainian delegation returning from Abu Dhabi will provide a briefing on the most sensitive aspects of recent negotiations. He emphasized that details of the talks cannot be discussed remotely.
Delegation to Report in Person
In a video address, Zelenskyy said the delegation would return late in the evening and brief him the following day. “I have scheduled a meeting with our delegation for tomorrow. They are returning tonight, and tomorrow we will review those sensitive aspects of the Abu Dhabi talks that cannot be discussed over the phone,” he said.
Next Steps in Negotiations
Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine is preparing for the next stage of negotiations, including trilateral meetings, as well as talks with European partners. He stressed that diplomatic efforts remain a priority alongside military and energy challenges, urging all state institutions to focus on supporting Ukraine’s stability, defense, and independence.
Parliamentary Diplomacy and International Support
The president praised parliamentary diplomacy in the US, highlighting the work of Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk, who has met with US lawmakers, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, to strengthen support for Ukraine. Zelenskyy remarked, “Support for Ukraine ensures conditions under which war will lose its meaning for Russia.”
Abu Dhabi Talks and Prisoner Exchange
Russia, Ukraine, and the US held a two-day meeting in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday and Thursday to discuss a Ukrainian settlement. The parties immediately conducted the first prisoner exchange in five months. A joint communique described the discussions as “constructive” and focused on creating conditions for lasting peace.
