The United Nations has voiced deep concern over the intensifying Israeli military offensive in Gaza, emphasizing the devastating impact on civilians and critical infrastructure.
UN spokesperson Stephanie Tremblay condemned the relentless airstrikes that have claimed numerous Palestinian lives. “We are deeply troubled by the continuing assaults that have left scores dead,” she stated, underscoring the mounting human toll.
A grim report from Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, revealed that Israeli forces had torched parts of the facility. Tremblay noted that an Israeli airstrike near the hospital on Thursday night caused the tragic deaths of dozens, including healthcare workers.
“In today’s shocking events, staff, patients, and their companions at Kamal Adwan Hospital were forcibly evacuated. Reports indicate arrests and significant damage to the hospital premises,” Tremblay said, painting a bleak picture of the situation on the ground.
The UN official also highlighted the systematic denial of humanitarian access to northern Gaza, describing a recent attempt by UN teams to reach the besieged region as yet another roadblock imposed by Israeli authorities. “Today, yet again, access to North Gaza was denied,” she remarked.
Turning attention to the West Bank, Tremblay expressed alarm over ongoing Israeli military operations in the Tulkarm refugee camp, where at least 20 Palestinians have been killed in just 10 days, including 12 in airstrikes. She pointed to reports from humanitarian teams describing extensive destruction to infrastructure caused by the Israeli offensive.
The situation, she stressed, remains dire, as civilian lives and vital services continue to bear the brunt of the escalating conflict.
