
On May 13, 2024, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III hosted Canadian Minister of National Defence Bill Blair for a bilateral meeting at the Pentagon. The leaders discussed NATO cooperation against Russian aggression in Ukraine, NORAD modernization, Canada’s Defence Policy Update, defense spending, and security issues in Haiti, the Middle East, and the Indo-Pacific.
Austin and Blair reaffirmed their support for Ukraine, pledging continued assistance to strengthen its security and sovereignty. They emphasized the importance of investing in modern, capable forces and advancing NORAD modernization.
The leaders also highlighted the ongoing commitment of the U.S. and Canada to improve security in Haiti in collaboration with regional and international partners.–News Desk
