The U.S. Justice Department announced Wednesday that a U.S.-Iranian national, Jeffrey Chance Nader, 66, has been indicted for unlawfully exporting aircraft components to Iran, violating U.S. economic sanctions and federal laws. Nader was arrested on Tuesday in California.
According to the indictment, Nader conspired with others to purchase and illegally export nearly three dozen American-made aircraft components, including parts used in military aircraft operated by Iran’s armed forces, such as the F-4 fighter jet.
Assistant Attorney General Matthew G. Olsen of the Justice Department’s National Security Division emphasized the department’s commitment to investigating and disrupting criminal networks that supply sensitive technology to hostile governments, underscoring the serious national security implications of such actions.
U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Matthew M. Graves, highlighted the importance of preventing Iran from acquiring U.S. parts, citing Iran’s attacks on U.S. allies in the Middle East and its ongoing support of Russia’s illegal war against Ukraine as key reasons for rigorous enforcement of sanctions.–News Desk
