WASHINGTON: The US military says it has redirected seven commercial vessels and disabled another while enforcing its naval blockade against Iran, as operations continue in the Arabian Sea amid heightened regional tensions.
In a statement released on Monday, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said American forces aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4) are conducting continuous day-and-night flight operations in support of the mission.
According to CENTCOM, the naval blockade remains in effect, with US forces taking action to prevent commercial vessels from entering or departing Iranian ports. The military said that, as of July 20, seven commercial ships had been redirected, while one vessel had been disabled during the operation.
The command also released images showing US personnel carrying out maritime and aviation activities as part of the ongoing mission.
The operation comes amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, with Washington increasing its military presence in the region and continuing efforts to restrict maritime access linked to Iran.
