‘1 million Palestinians face food shortages in Gaza’

GAZA City, Palestine– According to a welfare organisation, approximately one million refugees who are believed to be Palestinian nationals are in great suffering in Gaza due to food shortage which has raised because of the Israel’s constant blockade and slashed global funding for the UN agency for Palestinian refugees.

“a genuine decline in support from donors has had serious repercussions on the Palestinian refugees in Gaza, the West Bank, Jerusalem and other Arab states”, said chairman of the Popular Committee to End Gaza’s Seige Jamal al-Khoudary on the occasion of the World Refugee Day via a statement.

He said the US’ decision to halt funds, estimated to be around $360 million annually, for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) two years ago had severely impacted the agency’s operations.

He further told about the funds which United States has decided to halt is estimated to be around $360 million every year. He said that the estimated amount for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) had impacted the operations of the agency in an extreme manner in past two years.
